Notes My carved top and back mandolin is reminiscent of the Gibson 'A' style oval hole models although with the sides flush joining the neck. The neck joins the body at the 12th fret rather than the 10th and with the flush sides, access to the upper frets is much improved over traditional shouldered designs. The sound is sweet and open with a strong fundamental and a warm woody bark enhanced by the beautiful carved flame maple back. It will cut through in a session and yet produce the delicasy and harmonics loved by classical players.
